ORC Junior Boys achieve great results

Orillia Rowing Club Junior Boys competitors recently raced at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championships at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga and achieved great results!
 
Both Adrian Banks and Colm Shannon raced 2000 metres in the Junior A Mens category with Adrian finishing 4th in a time of 6:36.2 minutes and Colm finishing 11th in a time of 6:53.3 minutes.  The competition was very tight with 27 competitors.  Adrian's time was a personal best finish for him.  Adrian is racing in his second year of Junior A Men's Age Category, while Colm is in his first year of racing in this age bracket.  Congratulations to both these rowers!
 
They are continuing their training to prepare for the start of their on-water rowing season.  The first regatta to be attended by racers from the Orillia Rowing Club will be Head of the Martindale Regatta on May 8 in St. Catharines.
 
Orillia Rowing Club Registration for all club programs including the Spring Student Rowing Program and the Intro-to-Row Program will be Tue. April 6 and Thur. April 8 at the Barnfield Point Recreation Centre from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.  The Spring Student Rowing Program is a 9-week program for students that starts on Tue. April 13.  It consists of 4 weeks of conditioning training off the water, followed by 5 weeks of rowing on the water.  For more information, please call 326-5276.
